Silent Locations

John Bengtson is the author of a series of books about Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd, entitled Silent Traces, Silent Echoes, and Silent Visions, respectively. His books examine the historical settings preserved in the background of their classic films, and the changes wrought by the ensuing decades.

The Silent Locations blog supplements his books with tours, videos, and PowerPoint lectures that can’t be replicated in books, and new discoveries, and expanded coverage of the great silent clowns and their home turf, that would not otherwise be published.
